If there was a soundtrack

it would be upbeat with trumpets
Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass
or the James Last Orchestra
who always seemed to hang around
beneath Mexican archways
looking moody and interesting
or at Beach Parties
surrounded by adoring women
more sophisticated than my mother
more like the ones my father chased
usually in his dreams

  1. Morning Colin

I’d like to feature this short poem on the Poetrywivenhoe website, should you agree. Is it already published anywhere else? I would make an appropriate citation. One thing: consider using subjunctive in the title. Then it will read “If there were a soundtrack” … Regards ::Peter
