You can see from the photograph 
that he was at his best
one hot August day in ‘73
beaming from the seat
of a Fordson tractor
loosened and sunlit
returned to the farm boy
he knew how to be
before the tying down of things
before the holding back
and the holding on
the terrible narrowings
